Flu season 2020-2021

Seasonal summary for 2020-2021

During the 2020-2021 season, there has been no influenza epidemic in Sweden. The absence of the epidemic is due to a combination of factors arising from the current pandemic. On the one hand, measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 both nationally and globally have reduced the spread of influenza. On the one hand, a sharp reduction in travel has also meant that influenza has not been introduced to Sweden or the rest of Europe. The spread of influenza has been very low in the northern hemisphere and in much of the rest of the world.
