SIR works to gather documentation on demand for care of patients who might need intensive care. The first stage focuses on consultations in which the worsening of patients’ conditions was observed, and discussions of what level of care and care requirements that are applicable.
This web form is recommended to be applied to patients ≥16 years of age. However, there is no barrier to the registration of younger persons. The Guidelines for the Demand for Care do not refer to urgent care requests arising due to acute life-threatening conditions that are handled within common alarm systems.
Since January 1, 2018, a new update of guidelines and protocols for the registration of MIG patients has been in force. The reason is a new validated NEWS scale. This does not include changes in limit values, but the COPD extension has been removed. For the units using the NEWS scale, the input data form will automatically switch to a new NEWS calculation and remove the COPD question for registrations after January 1, 2018. Since the turn of the year, there are different NEWS reports in output data, depending on whether you want to monitor the time before or after January 1, 2018.
