Post-ICU Seminar 2026

This year’s seminar for post-ICU users was well-attended; nearly 90 people gathered to share experiences and knowledge and to discuss follow-up care for patients who had been in intensive care. The main theme of the day was diaries and follow-up care for patients and their loved ones. We heard about one patient’s experience of being treated in the ICU without receiving a diary. A family member of a patient who was treated in the ICU as a child described how they created a diary and how they have used it during the patient’s recovery. Recommendations for keeping a diary were presented, and we also learned about the psychological perspective on diaries and photographs. During the day, updates regarding SIR and the use of the SIR data portal were also presented. The day concluded with group discussions where participants chose the topics they wanted to discuss.
