Audit - Safe quality intensive care

SIR Audit has now visited 26 of Sweden's 81 intensive care units.

The last visit for this term has been completed and the auditors are currently finalizing the reports to be delivered to the units. This term we have had the honor to visit:

  • Växjö
  • Ljungby
  • Karlstad
  • Södersjukhuset MIVA
  • Södersjukhuset ICU

We would like to thank all units for a very good job and welcoming, we look forward to seeing you again in a year. The fall term 2024 will be very exciting with more visits planned:

  • Lund IVA
  • NIVA Linköping
  • Sundsvall
  • Nyköping

NIVA Linköping will be the first specialist intensive care unit to carry out an audit in this concept and we, like them, look forward to this pilot visit. We hope that this visit can provide us with good conditions for other specialist intensive care units that want to receive a visit from us.

The planning for 2025 is in full progress and the units in the pipeline are being contacted. There are a few places left in 2025 if you are interested.

At each visit, the auditors fill in an audit tool where each category is scored based on the information provided by the unit both through the questions sent out in advance and after the on-site interviews. Figure 1 below shows 25 units visited during stage 1 of the audit. Figure 2 below shows 14 units visited during stage 2 of the audit, which takes place approximately 1 year after the first visit. We see clear and multiple improvements in all areas. Several units report that they have started projects after the visit and that the Audit visit from us has been seen as a springboard where they have gained strength, energy and found a good method to get their improvement projects started and settled.

We look forward to hearing about more of your projects and improvements. Feel free to drop us a line and send in a short presentation to inspire other units. This way, not every unit has to reinvent the wheel.
