According to current guidelines for Measures and Operations, prone position (SR320) is recorded with date and time. As of January 1, 2026, a change will be introduced: the measure must be recorded with start and end times.
Definitions:
- Start time: The time when the procedure begins in the ICU. If the procedure begins before admission to the ICU, the start time of the care episode is specified.
- End time: The time when the procedure ends in the ICU. If the procedure continues after discharge from the ICU, the discharge time is specified as the end time.
Many units already register this, as both the validation program and SIR have accepted registration with start and end times.
The purpose of the change is to improve data quality and enable more accurate analysis of care interventions over time.
