News about KVÅ codes from 1/7 2022

Parliament has decided on amendments to the Transplantation Act, which will enter into force on 1 July 2022. With this, there is a new action code (XV027) and also changed code text to an existing action code (XV013) from July 1.

XV013 Medical interventions after death for possible organ donation
Excludes: Organ-preserving treatment for possible organ donation, see XV027.
This code is used when interventions are initiated after the onset of death if necessary to preserve organs or other biological material pending a transplant procedure.

XV027 Organ preservation treatment for possible organ donation
Refers to intensive care interventions and other measures to preserve the functioning of organs or improve the conditions for transplantation. Organ-preserving treatment is given in parallel with palliative care. Excludes: Post-death medical interventions for possible organ donation, see XV013.
This code is used when pre-death medical interventions – organ-preserving treatment – are given to a possible donor. However, the treatment may only be given if it cannot wait until after death, does not cause more than minor pain or slight harm and does not hinder efforts for the possible donor's own sake.
