All patients with laboratory-confirmed influenza or COVID-19 treated in the ICU should be reported as soon as possible after the start of treatment.
The purpose of SIRI is to identify an unusual cluster of cases as early as possible, map severe symptoms and risk factors, characterize the virus, monitor the ICU case load and follow the effects of measures such as vaccination and medication.
