Simplification of the SOFA guideline. The new guideline uses only the Daily SOFA.
Extract from the guideline:
Registration
Daily SOFA is registered once a day
- The registration of Daily SOFA is done in the morning at a time that best suits individual ICU routines, at the same time every day.
- Daily SOFA should be registered for all patients admitted to the ICU at 09:00 on the day in question. Should the individual ICU prefer another standing time in the morning, this should be communicated to SIR (email: sir@icuregswe.org).
- The first daily SOFA on an individual patient is registered the same morning as the patient arrives at the ICU if the patient has arrived at the ICU no later than 9 am (or at another fixed time chosen by the ICU according to the point above). If the patient has arrived later, the first registration of daily SOFA will not be until the next day. Values measured within one hour before arrival at the ICU are included, but not prehospital values.
- Continued Daily SOFA includes observations and test results within an interval of 24 hours.
- The worst documented value per time interval is recorded for Daily SOFA.
For member units that have registered SOFAs before the revised guideline was adopted, it is possible to continue to register inSOFAs, daily SOFAs and outSOFAs until December 31, 2024 if they wish to do so. Thus, for member units that wish to start registering SOFAs, the new guideline applies, with registration of daily SOFAs only.
